Bargaining Council 10/18/2014
The AFUM Bargaining Council meets in 124 Eastport Hall, UMA-Bangor, on Saturday, October 18, 2014, at 9:30 am, with coffee available at 9:00. The Bargaining Council provides input and ideas to the Negotiating Team for use in upcoming contract negotiations. Directions and a map are available at http://www.uma.edu/umabdirections.html. Because of road construction, members traveling from the south should take the Hammond Street exit (182B) from I-95.
2014-2015 AFUM EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETINGS
AFUM is the exclusive bargaining agent for full-time faculty at the seven universities of the University of Maine System, including the Cooperative Extension. Affiliated with both the National Education Association and Maine Education Association, AFUM's goal is to provide the best representation possible to all members.
In NLRB v. J. Weingarten, Inc., 420 US 251 (1975), the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that unionized employees have the right under the National Labor Relations Act to the presence of a union representative during any management inquiry that the employee reasonably believes may result in discipline.
